"I don't know how it is I haven't known about this restaurant all these years, but as far as chain barbecue, I think it's the best I've ever had! My favorites are the real side-of-the-road pit barbecues with walk-up windows and a few picnic tables on the side of the highway I grew up having in the South, with each one having its specialties. One would have pulled pork and brisket, another ribs, some with chicken and others turkey--with a mild, spicy, and mustard Carolina your 3 sauces for choosing. There were places that served rolls or buns, while others had white bread or Texas toast; if you were really lucky, you'd find hush puppies and/or biscuits on offer. You could get whole pies here, cobblers or cakes there, with bread or rice-based puddings the option where baked goods were a risk that might go to waste. What makes Bubbacues so amazing is it's like a smorgasbord of ALL those joints, putting the whole range of specialties and greatest hits from those Mom and Pop menus into ONE restaurant! The menu offers a gargantuan variety of choices; they had me at the "hello" of the appetizer list, with its fried tomatoes, pickles, both corn and corn dog bites, and (wonder of wonders) funnel cake fries! Those are a favorite of mine I'd never actually seen at any BBQ place as opposed to food trucks or stalls at the old -school county fairs and modern festivals and farmer's markets. (Yeah, Checkers has something they claim to be funnel fries, but they're just bland lumps of dough in a fry shape, not like the real deal Bubbacue's has.) Then there are the meats (pork, beef brisket, ribs, chicken, turkey), with additional options for serving style, like a half chicken on a dinner plate or chopped chicken by the pound, while the brisket can be pulled, chopped, or a collection of 'burnt ends" left after chopping and pulling other orders. There are sauce selections to match, with nods to both Alabama and Mississippi in the names and Carolina, Louisiana, and Texas in the recipes. (I suggest going to the Bubbacues restaurant website for a breakdown of what each sauce and its flavor profile is.) I'm not talking smatterings of nibble kibble either; portions are more generous than I've seen from a BBQ place in YEARS!!! Bubbacue's isn't cheap fare by any stretch, but rising prices has been the norm at all BBQ places for years at local pit stops, established legends that have gone national in reputation, and new chains. Using real beef, pig, and poultry creates a capability to command and even somewhat real need to impose higher costs compared to food made from processed slime or chunked patties with as much filler as actual meat. I don't know how my cardiologist is going to feel about this discovery, but I highly recommend Bubbacue's to anyone!!!"
