Directions for use: Preparation Time: 30 minutes (plus resting time) Makes 1 loaf You will need: 500g (packet) white bread mix 20g butter 330ml water, at room temperature Oil for kneading Baking tray To hand make 1. Put mix into a large bowl and rub the butter into the mix. 2. Gradually add the water and mix until a dough is formed. 3. Tip out onto an oiled surface and knead the dough for 10-15 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. 4. Place in a bowl and cover with a damp cloth, allow to rest for 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size. 5. Knock back the dough and shape into oblong loaf. Place on a baking tray and leave to prove for 1 hour. Pre-heat the oven to 230ºC (Fan 210ºC, Gas Mark 8). 7. Bake for 25 minutes, then lower the temperature to 200ºC (Fan 180ºC, Gas Mark 6) and bake for a further 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and leave to cool on a wire rack. To make using a bread maker: Follow your bread machine's instructions for a basic white loaf. Recipe Tip: To further develop flavour & texture allow a prove overnight in the fridge.
